Five questions worth asking

Prenatal yoga is not regular yoga at a slower pace. Certain twists, supine poses after the second trimester and deep abdominal work are contraindicated, and a general fitness instructor may not know which. Ask any studio in Bangalore whether their teacher holds a prenatal-specific certification before you pay for a package.

The other four questions are just as practical. Is the class designed by a certified prenatal instructor, or is it a generic video? Does the sequence change as the trimesters change? Does the class teach labour breathing, or only fitness? And does anything continue after the birth?

What a good prenatal class does

Prenatal-specific certification

A general yoga qualification is not the same thing. Ask directly.

Clear visual guidance

Every class should be designed and guided by a certified prenatal instructor.

Contraindication awareness

Your teacher should know which poses to remove and when, without being asked.

Trimester progression

What is right in week 16 is wrong in week 36. The sequence must change.

Labour-relevant work

Squats, pelvic floor and breathing that transfer into the delivery room.

Postnatal continuation

Recovery matters as much as preparation. Ask what happens after the birth.

How our Bangalore classes answer those

Every point above, built into the Onwards Care Prenatal Program.

  • Certified prenatal instructors, not general fitness trainers
  • Guided classes with individual correction, three times a week
  • Sequences that change trimester by trimester
  • Lamaze breathing and labour-specific strength work
  • A separate postnatal recovery program after birth
  • Doctor clearance required before you start
FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is online prenatal yoga safe?

Yes, when the class is designed for pregnancy and expert-guided. The risk in pregnancy yoga comes from unsupervised poses, not from the screen.

Do you have a studio in Bangalore?

No. All classes are online, attended by mothers across Bangalore and the rest of India.

How many classes a week?

Three one-hour yoga and exercise classes, plus a weekly meditation session.

I have never done yoga. Is that a problem?

No. A large share of our mothers start yoga for the first time during pregnancy, and the classes are taught with that assumed.

What is the price?

Plans start at Rs 1,000 a month. See the courses page for the full table.
