The hardest trimester to get advice for

Most prenatal classes start in the second trimester, which leaves the first largely unsupported. You feel nauseous and exhausted, you have usually not told anyone yet, and the advice you get is to rest and come back in three months.

Gentle, cleared movement in the first trimester is safe for most low-risk pregnancies and helps with exactly the symptoms that make it miserable, fatigue, constipation, nausea and mood. What matters is that it is supervised and appropriately gentle, which is what these sessions are.

What early sessions focus on

Gentle mobility

Low-intensity movement for circulation, stiffness and energy. No strength loading yet.

Nausea management

Eating patterns, timing and breathing techniques that actually reduce morning sickness.

Fatigue

Why first-trimester exhaustion is so severe, and how to work with it rather than fight it.

Breathing and relaxation

Established early so it is automatic by the time labour arrives.

Early nutrition

Folate, iron and B12, and what to do when you cannot keep food down.

What is normal

Spotting, cramping, symptom changes and the signs that need a doctor today.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is exercise safe in the first trimester?

For most low-risk pregnancies, yes, gentle supervised exercise is safe and beneficial. We require your doctor's clearance before you start.

I feel too sick to exercise. Should I wait?

Tell your instructor. Sessions are scaled to how you feel that day, and breathing work alone often helps with the nausea.

Does exercise increase miscarriage risk?

Current evidence does not support that for appropriate, cleared exercise in a low-risk pregnancy. Discuss your specific situation with your doctor.

When should I switch to regular classes?

The program progresses with you. As the first trimester ends, the intensity increases automatically.

What if my pregnancy is high risk?

Speak to your doctor first. We adapt where it is safe to do so, and we will tell you honestly when it is not.
